A Generator Switch Panel is needed when normal utility power is interrupted for long periods of time. These power distribution panels are necessary to connect portable generators for temporary power solutions. The Generator Connection Panel Manual Transfer Switch is designed to make this transfer of source power between the portable generator and the facility’s main panelboard safely and with minimal effort. This prevents cross-connection of the utility using a generator as a power source. The safest and easiest way to make the tie-in is through a generator connection panel specifically designed for this application.

The Union Connector Generator Connection Panel contains series 16 cams inlets for cable connection to the portable generator. These Series 16 Cam Inlet connectors are standard, inexpensive and familiar to generator operators.

Series 16 Cams Location

The cams are mounted inside a NEMA 3R, 4 or 4X enclosure with a secure trap-door entry on the bottom of the enclosure. Quick, safe connection of portable cables by qualified personnel is through this trap-door. The front door can be secured with a padlock for added security and the facility can now be safely brought back online.

Generator Switch Panel Types

There are several types of generator switch panels available for your temporary power needs. Other power distribution panel units can provide switching inside the panel. The power switching may consist of either manual switches or automatically controlled switch mechanisms. Double Throw switches can be either fused or non-fused depending on fault current considerations. Molded case switches or breakers provide a lower maintenance alternative to DT switches in most situations. The automatic contractor switches are the most “user-friendly”, with a UL1008 rating and simple operation.
